Acts 12:1-25
Around 43AD King Herod Agrippa began to harass the Church.
He killed James, the brother of John, part of Jesus’ inner circle – Peter, James and John. When he saw that the Jews were pleased with that, he arrested Peter as well.
As it was Passover, Peter was put in prison, under maximum security, to be dealt with after the Feast of Unleavened bread.
But the Church was praying fervently.
Peter did not appear to be worried – Jesus has prophesied that Peter would die an old man.
The night before he was to be called before Herod an angel miraculously freed him and led him out of the prison
Peter went immediately to the house where the disciples were gathered and knocked on the door.
Rhoda answered and was so excited that she ran back inside and told the disciples, but they didn’t believe her.
God answers prayers – pray big prayers and have faith!
Herod was furious that Peter had escaped, and killed the guards instead, then went to Caesarea
Tyre and Sidon sent a delegation to Herod to ask for peace. Herod, dressed in amazing apparel gave them an oration.
The delegates said that he spoke with a voice of a god, and because Herod didn’t give glory to God, he was struck by a sickness and was eaten by worms.
But the word of God continued to spread, and Barbara’s and Saul returned from their successful ministry in Jerusalem, bringing John Mark with them.
Nothing can stand against Jesus and His Church.
