Acts 7:20-38
Context
At Pentecost a Peter preached his first sermon, and 3000 people joined the disciples- the birth of the church.
Then God healed a lame man through Peter and John, and more people joined the church.
Then a great multitude came for healing and the church continued growing.
The apostles were put into prison and beaten.
One of those imprisoned was Stephen.
Nobody could argue with his wisdom, so the high council pressed false charges against him.
Stephen is now defending himself against these false charges.
Stephen wanted to teach the truth about Jesus, rather than fight the false charges.
Moses came to free the Israelites from Egypt.
Jesus came to save the Israelites from sin.
Moses left the comfort of the palace to come to the Israelites, but they rejected him.
Jesus came from heaven to come to the Israelites. But they rejected Him.
40 years later God sent the rejected Moses was sent back to the Israelites, and though stones and wonders delivered them from Egypt.
Moses prophesied that God would send a prophet like Moses. Jesus was that prophet.
Stephen was willing to give up his live in order to proclaim the truth about Jesus.
