Acts 2:22-47
This four key pillars critical for all Churches.
Each of them could be a whole study, buy we will just have a quick look at them today.
Pillar 1: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine”
The Apostle’s Doctrine is the gospel of Jesus Christ, including that:
- Jesus is the Son of God
- He died for our sins
- He rose again
- The we need to repent for our sins
- We need to be baptised
- We have eternal life through Jesus’ sacrifice
Pillar 2: Fellowship,
The word Fellowship here is a comprehensive word that means all of the following together at the same time:
- Unity,
- Sharing
- Communion
- Interrelationship,
- Working together
- Helping each other.
Pillar 3: The breaking of bread
As well as commemorating Jesus’s death and resurrection, sharing communion together is a demonstration of the unity that we have with Jesus,
and the unity we have with each other as His followers.
And sharing communion together is something that Jesus commanded us to do
We no longer strife for righteousness under the law of Moses, we are given the righteousness of Jesus
Pillar 4: Prayer
Prayer is simply talking to God.
As we study the Bible we learn more about God.
As we pray we draw closer to God.
We have a real, personal relationship with the living God, and relationships require talking with each other
Prayer is Powerful!
It can change the circumstances of your life.
God demands tremendous respect, awe and fear.
The fear of God is good and healthy for us.
Paradoxically, by fearing God we draw closer to Him.
As well as being awesome and powerful, God is unfathomably loving.
Being part God’s of family requires fellowship together – you can’t be an isolated Christian all by yourself.
